Bruce Black, the son of a preaching minister, fell naturally into ministry. Bruce has served as a preaching minister for 35 years. He has worked with a diverse group of churches ranging in size from 200 to over 1000 in membership. He has served churches in rural Winters, Texas (1978-1981) to suburban Los Angeles in Riverside, California (1981-1986) to the heart of the auto industry in Flint, Michigan (1986-1991) to the border of Washington, D.C. in Fairfax, Virginia (1991-2013).
A graduate of Abilene Christian University (BA and MA in Biblical Studies 1977, 1982) Bruce married Jeanette Marshall Black on July 21, 1977 shortly after both had completed their undergraduate programs. Jeanette is also a graduate of ACU with a B.S. degree in Speech Pathology and Special Education. Jeanette would later gain a M.A. degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from George Mason University. Jeanette has taught special education and for the past ten years as been an elementary school principal in schools in Northern Virginia and currently in Fort Mill, South Carolina.
Bruce and Jeanette have two adult daughters: Lindsay and Jessica. Lindsay is married to Dean Hill. They live in Austin, Texas with their son, Daschel. Jessica is married to Scott Temple. They live in suburbs of Charlotte, North Carolina.
Bruce retired from fulltime ministry in June 2013. Since then he has worked as a spiritual life coach with men and leaders as well as preaching and holding congregational seminars. Bruce is currently at work co-authoring a book on dealing with aging parents.
Bruce is excited to be a part of IMP. He loves to put to use his experience and learning in the areas of preaching, leadership and mentoring to use encouraging churches and their leaders.
Bruce and Jeanette currently live in the Charlotte, North Carolina suburb of Fort Mill, South Carolina.
